Gessler Head Porting is owned and operated by Greg Gessler. Greg has been racing Muscle cars for over 20 years, and has spent countless hours testing on the flow bench learning what works and what does not. He has over 15 years of cylinder head porting experience for street and racecars. Several record setting engines use GHP cylinder heads.
We work on all makes and models
Initially working exclusively on cast iron Buick 455’s, but as customer word of mouth spread, Greg soon began developing effective port designs for the Buick Turbo V6, 350 and the 401-425 Nailhead engines. As time went by more and more non-Buick racers and enthusiasts contacted Greg to do their heads, intakes and exhaust manifolds. Now Gessler Head Porting works on all makes and models, both OEM cylinder heads and aftermarket performance cylinder heads. Chevy’s, Mopar’s, Pontiac’s, AMC's, Ford’s, Oldsmobile’s, even Harley's and Diesel's. Greg has worked closely with racers to develop record winning cylinder heads, such as the worlds fastest cast iron headed Buick Stage1, with a 9.43 ET @ 140 MPH! And the Worlds Fastest Aluminum Headed Buick Stage1, 9.12 @ 147 MPH! GHP has had great success helping fellow enthusiasts get more from their combination.
Greg’s 1972 GS Stage1 is a 5-time F.A.S.T. winner in the F.A.S.T. (factory appearing stock tire) race series with a best official run of 11.00 at 125 MPH! That’s running a stock appearing car and engine with cast iron intake and exhaust manifolds, Q-jet, cast iron heads racing on original equipment G-60-15 Goodyear Polyglas GT reproduction bias ply street tires. GHP has done a lot of research and development in the factory appearing arena, developing strong ideas on what works well when using original factory heads, intake and exhaust manifold castings.
GHP does not 'farm-out' its work. All machining, testing and assembly is done in-house, on GHP's own machines. That is the best way to insure and control quality. Gessler Head Porting does not believe in cutting corners with service or parts. Quality parts are used throughout the rebuilding process, and only accurate tooling on our in-house quality machines. GHP's bench has been calibrated with sharp edge orifice plates from SuperFlow. No inflated flow numbers here!
GHP's CBN/PCD milling machine uses specialized cutting inserts, CBN (Cubic Boron Nitride) for cutting cast iron and PCD (Polycrystalline Diamond) for cutting aluminum, insuring a smooth, straight finish on the cylinder head deck surface.
Sunnen VGS-20 valve seat machining center is used to install hardened exhaust seats, replace valve guides and cut multi-angle and radius valve seats to insure excellent air flow and accurate seat heights with unparalleled consistency.
