Carl Rychlik's
1970 Buick GS
455 Stage 1
Carl restored his GS to a concours level. Carl uses:
- GHP ported Shootout exhaust manifolds, JetHot coated cast-iron gray.
Carl was awarded the Gold Concours award at the 2006 GS Nationals in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
Carl posed with his car at the 2004 BPG (Buick Performance Group) Nationals.
Cast Iron gray color high temperature JetHot coating looks great on the exhaust manifolds and keeps them looking great.
Under the hood looks just like when it rolled off the assembly line in 1970.
Hi Greg, I had promised that I would write you about the buildup of my car. For a summary, when I set out to restore my car,it was a money-is-no-object approach and like you know,I did not skimp on anything.
The restoration buildup is as follows:
1) Numbers matching drivetrain-completely rebuilt, balanced, blueprinted; using a majority of TA Performance parts.
2) Complete rebuilt Mark DeConti Turbo 400
3) New wiring harnesses
4) New weather-stripping
5) Many NOS parts(bumpers,fenders,emblems,radiator support,mouldings,side marker lights,etc,)
6) Brand new Reproduction G60x15 Polyglas GT tires and brand new reproduction 15x7 Buick rallye rims.
7) New gas tank, gas lines and brake lines(all stainless steel)
8) New interior(headliner,door panels,seat covers,rug)
9) Completely rebuilt brake system
10) New springs, shocks, bushings and front end parts
11) Car went to Gran Sport Autobody where it remained there for 2 years to get a body/paint restoration.
12) The car took me approximately 7 years to restore.
13) Prior to buying this Gran Sport,I had begun collecting parts for this car, because someday I knew I'd be getting a Gran Sport and I did.
Thanks Greg!
