INTAKE MANIFOLD ALIGNMENT

It is very important that you follow these instructions before sending us your intake manifold.

In order for us to match the intake manifold runner with your cylinder head intake port openings and get the best possible transition, we need to know the location of your cylinder head intake ports. The actual location can vary due to:
  • Casting / Machining variations
  • Block and head milling
  • Head porting dimensions
Therefore it is important for you to supply us with the location of your intake ports.
Here’s how you do it:
  1. Install intake gasket on cylinder head that exactly matches the head intake port opening. (Gasket must NOT be larger than head intake port. Heads must be installed on block with correct thickness head gasket)
  2. If necessary, make a gasket out of thin cardboard (same thickness as intake gasket) and carefully cut out the exact port openings with razor.
  3. Temporally glue/attach intake gasket to head surface so that it will not move on installation of intake manifold.
  4. Install intake manifold and carefully torque down to factory specs.
  5. Remove 4 of the intake bolts, generally one in each corner. Measure thickness of intake flange thru the bolt hole and use tape on a drill bit as a depth gauge. Drill a 1/8” hole right next to these 4 bolt hole opening , drill thru intake and thru intake gasket. (If possible, drill holes close to bolt hole, so intake bolt will cover hole) Note: 1/8” holes can be later filled flush with epoxy and painted.
  6. Take a metal punch, and make a reference mark on the intake and reference mark on the head for proper alignment when you go to reinstall the intake manifold. (Make reference marks in inconspicuous location)
  7. Remove intake manifold and carefully remove intake gaskets. Be careful not to tear gaskets.
  8. Be sure to mark gasket locations. (Driver/Pass, and which side faces the intake manifold.)
  9. Send us your intake manifold and drilled gaskets.
